A first edition of Father Henson's Story of His Own Life. Dated 1858 ...with an introduction by Harriet Beecher Stowe. Written just a few years before the on set of the Civil War. Book measures about 7 3/4 inches by 5 inches. Fair condition. 212 pages. Pages are yellowed and imperfect. Binding is fair with the exterior being in rough looking condition. I started to read this and found it very moving. Whether you study African American history, or collect Black Americana this book will move you as you travel with Father Henson from his early years as a slave to his time of freedom and beyond.
