1920's Vintage Oriental Silk Embroidery Panel Figures + Lion - Museum DeaccessionFor your consideration we are offering a vintage oriental silk embroidery panel, believed to date to the 1920s.Hand embroidered with exquisite detail, displays a group pf figures, riding a lion and flying a kite, on a red colored silk ground. The panel is offset andtrimmed with hand embroidery with blue and white threads border in black silk.Recently deaccessioned from the Roche...ster Strong museum in New York with its original museum fabric catalog identification tag still is attached.
In overall very good vintage condition, the panel is astructurally sound panel with intricate embroidery that remains fully intact.The fabric framework surrounding the panel, has been skillfully tailored andsewn in place by hand and compliments the panel nicely. Decorated and scattered embroidered apple blossoms and leaves thruout with finest embroidery throughout.
Backed with a blue silk fabric.
In very good condition, with no spots, repairs and no damage on front. The back lining has fading and one small stain.
Measures 23" in length and 19-1/2" in width.
