Up for auction is a very rare incunabula leaf from the German edition of Hartmann Schedel's Nuremberg Chronicle, printed by Anton Koberger in Nuremberg, Germany, in December of 1493. This is page XXXI of the Chronicle, and it contains a large woodcut depicting the infamous dance around the Golden Calf from the Book of Exodus - Moses and the recently-smashed Ten Commandments are on the left. The reverse depicts the Ark of the Covenant. These woodcuts were hand-colored... shortly after publication, likely in a workshop in order to handle the initial demand for the Chronicle. Despite some minor darkening, this attractive Chronicle leaf is in very good condition. It measures approx. 16 x 11 1/2 inches. Guaranteed to be completely genuine...best offers welcome! Shipping is $12 within the USA and $18 anywhere else (registered is extra). Payment must be arranged within 3 days after the closing of the auction. Please email me with any questions. Thank you!
