Solid sterling silver English fusee lever pocket watch 1859 cleaned & working ... Click image to enlarge Description On offer is a fully cleaned, serviced and working (with 1 year guarantee) Victorian solid sterling silver fusee table roller lever pocket watch, London 1859 complete with key The dial is white enamel with Roman numerals and a sunken subsidiary seconds. The hands are gold. The sterling silver double bottomed case bears the London hallmarks for 1859 (lower case Gothic d). The rear is engine turned with a cartouche and initials. The makers initials are BAG. Probably Benjamin Alfred Green, 3A Northampton Square, Clerkenwell, London. The rear cover flips open when the pendant button is pressed.The movement is a key wound (key supplied) English full plate fusee table roller lever. It is wound from the rear (anticlockwise), the hands are set from the front. It has a polished steel three armed balance. Regulation is via a London quadrant type. The movement is stamped with the number 1455.This is a nice example of a mid Victorian sterling silver cased English fusee lever pocket watch, in good over all condition. Movement condition: excellent, the gilding nice and bright, with only one or two very minor marks. It is complete with its original dust cap. The balance, lever pallets, escape and fourth wheels are jewelled (11 jewels). Dial condition: perfect. Case condition: good, there are a couple of small bumps on the rear cover, the engine turning is worn around the edge, as is the edge. The front bezel snaps shut as it should do. The rear cover springs open as it should do. The front and rear hinges are good. The small projection at 1 o'clock used to open the front bezel is missing (see photos) but you can still open the front bezel with your nail. Watch glass (crystal): glass, original, one or two small scratches. It runs well to the end of the chain (greater than 30 hours) and keeps good time. Size: 47mm (1.88 inches) in diameter and 17mm (0.68 inches) thick. Weight: 93g (3.29oz).
