Original Description:
Extremely unusual film holders made in the late 1800's by Amer. Optical Co. / Scovill Mfg. Co., New York. This is a 5 x 7 size. When the two side hinges are undone, this flips open like a book. These are also being used now as decorative picture frames. When closed it is 25mm thick. Beautiful and scarce items.Please note: I cannot get one of the black inserts back into the film holder after I opened it up. I am sure it fits, as it was fine until I removed it.  I am enclosing it se...parately rather than try and force this to fold correctly. The other one is fine.
