Made in Germany 1930-50s. The leather is high quality Calf Grain. A beautiful Dark Brown Bronze colour. It also has a fabulous TARTAN fabric interior. This fabulous pouch was designed to fit 2 pens or a pen and a pencil. Inside are 2 leather loops which determine what size pen fits as leather has no stretch. This pouch/case was made to fit a size 4 pen and a Pencil or another smaller size 2 fountain pen. So in other words fits: Safety #4, 104, 124, 224, 134, 234 1/2, 144 and 244 etc etc and a safety #2, 122, 132, 232, 142, 242 etc.. ORa 72 or 172 mechanical pencil. Pouch is in fantastic condition for its age with no rips or damage. The leather lops are as new. The zip is perfect with no rips or repairs etc. Rare to find so clean....Has some natural signs of use and patina you would expect but no damage.
Before taking these photographs I conditioned ALL the 1930-50s Leather pouches in auction and buy it now using the best product EVER for old leather. Saphir Renovateur Medal D'OR. It is colourless and wow did this leather soak it up. It has given a new lease of life to ALL of them.
The one thing EVERY one of these VINTAGE pen pouches have in common is that none of them have any repairs, tares, cracks, splits or zip damage etc for those that have zips. I have three times as many of these pouches still in a draw that have ripped zip or split seams etc etc....What separates these I have in auction from those and most others you will find on eBay etc is the simple fact they have no splits, rips or broken zips etc. They might have some natural wear or patina but no splits or rip tares etc. See photographs for more detail of condition etc. NONE of them have been re colored or repaired/restored. All original. All I have done is condition the leather. So its supple and strong as it was when new.
