ANTIQUE ASIAN JAPANESE BLACK LACQUER WARE ENAMELWARE MUSIC TRINKET JEWELRY BOX Up for your consideration is this antique Asian black lacquerware musical jewelry box. Please be sure to see all the other antique items we have listed. FEATURES: The box is made from wood painted with black lacquer paint. It features a picture of a pagoda and Japanese trees. The lid border is inlaid with beautiful pieces of abalone. When you open the hinged lid, the inside of the lid has a 6 x 4"... mirror, a hinged shelf that holds a 5 x 2-1/2" compartment with cobalt blue velvet ridged lining and two hinged 3" square doors that are also painted with black lacquer-ware and Japanese landscaping, they have a small ring with a red tassel on each door for opening. This is perfect for placing small items such as rings or small bracelets. Below the shelf with the two door compartment, is a 4" square compartment also lined with the same blue lining and can be used for larger jewelry or trinket items. To the right of the bottom compartment is where the music mechanism is located with a black lacquerware cover over it. The music mechanism is in perfect working order, but I do not recognize the song that it plays. It has four feet at the base and a metal lock on the front (no key came with this box).

CONDITION: It comes to you in overall Very Good Condition. The only mentionable's are, there was some cracking of the black lacquer paint in some places, but these were "touched up" and hard to see, also a couple pieces of abalone have come off, and one of the hinges on the left side is missing, finally the cover for the music mechanism sits loosely and is no longer glued in.
