Molas are wonderful traditional folk art hand stitched fabric panels that the Kuna women (Indian tribes living in the remote San Blas islands off the coast of Panama) wear on the front and back of their blouses. They are masterpieces of time-consuming intricate textile work. This is a Kuna Indian Mola applique textile in a professionally framed black metal frame with a 2" burgandy/win...e matte. Excellent Condition. The beautiful vibrant stitching on the birds surrounded by rich burgandy/wine accents all pop on the black background of the mola. The professional matte matches perfectly and adds a nice finishing touch to pull it together in the frame. Framing appears to be dated 12/93. Nice sturdy frame and hardware. Did not attempt to date the Mola. Frame size: 16" h x 19" w
