GOOD SIZED VICTORIAN ART NOUVEAU DECORATED SILVER CARD CASE c1889 - 2.69 ozt GOOD SIZED VICTORIAN ART NOUVEAU DECORATED SILVER CARD CASE c1889 - 2.69 ozt Here we have a great looking and good sized slim solid silver card case, decorated front centre with a period monogram in an Art Nouveau style as pictured.The case has been assayed in Birmingham during 1889 by George Unite & Sons.I have cut a piece... of paper to check and it will accept business or calling cards sized up to approximately 3.5" by 2.25", so it will be suitable for carrying most modern sized business cards..Measuring approximately 7cm wide by 9cm tall and 9mm deep when closed, the case weighs 2.69 troy ounces or 62.4 grams. The hinge is in working order and the lid closes correctly, it will not fall open accidentally. The case has some typical light, faint age related scuffs and surface scratches around the bodywork, I have pictured and indicated the worst of these (front near the base rim) in the supplied photographs. In addition there are a few small impact marks on both the front and rear surfaces plus a couple of shallow edge dings on the bottom corners. There are no holes or splits anywhere.A good polish will no doubt further enhance former gloryThis very attractive and practical little sterling silver case is being offered here in a used antique condition, exactly as pictured and with no reserve.
