Antique Sterling Silver and Glass Box
Antique Sterling Silver and Glass Box Click image to enlarge Description This good-sized box has a sterling silver lid and crystal body. It is of torpedo shape and the lid is beautifully decorated with chased flora and scrolls around a... vacant central cartouche, and the edges are crimped. The glass body has been cut in the Hobnail Pattern and the base is Star Cut. Please see the condition report below regarding issues with the lid and body. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1910 with the maker’s mark of J. H. Worrall, Son & Co. Ltd. The marks are quite rubbed, especially the maker’s mark.
The lid is in good condition and the decorative work is quite sharp although there is some light surface wear to the detail caused through polishing. Although there are no dents, dints or holes, unfortunately the rim has split at one end along the seam. However, in spite of this, the lid still fits nice and securely to the body. The glass is in overall good condition with no cracks but, unfortunately, there are two noticeable chips to the inner rim. These can’t be seen when the lid is in place but are obvious when it’s removed. These issues are clearly shown in the photos and reflected in the asking price. Please be aware that, after 108 years, there will be some tiny abrasions caused through handing and use.

Prices are calculated to include the weight of packaging as well as the weight of the item.
