Photos one and two show details of bonsai staged specimens in my collection and the very attractive blueflowers and ruby red fruit that this plant is noted for. The third and fourth fourth photos show the plant for sale, well established from transplant last year in freshNew Zealand sphagnum moss in a 4”/10 cm plastic hanging basket that can be set up on three wire hanger. Hangers not supplied but easily sourced online or at localgarden shop.Myrmephytum beccarii isa large, warm-growi...ng ant plant of the coffee family (Rubiaceae) originatingfrom Sibuyan Island in the central Philippines. They are amazing subjects forcultivation as tropical ornamentals for growers who can provide a well-lit, warm environment year-round. In many parts of the country, these plants can begrown as hanging plants in bright shade during the late spring, summer and earlyfall. Do well in bright bay windows and can be grown to full size in one withenough patience. Somewhat drought-tolerant, but prefers uniformly moist, notwet, growing conditions. The plant shown is a three-year-old, second generation cultivated plant, grown from seed from my own selected parentstock originating from wild-collected seed accessed in 2008. The stem of theplant has been “trained” sideways since youth to exaggerate the twisted andbulky natural aspect of this species caudex, although the plants are often semipendent in nature as well. This is a near mature plant that will soon produceviable fruit from self-pollination in attractive ruby red berries. Ants are notrequired for successful cultivation of this species and the plant in my collectiondo not house ant colonies.All plants offered are greenhouse grown on benches in the San FranciscoBay Area, California.Shipping: Plants will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail withtracking number for physical addresses within three working days of receipt ofpayment, weather permitting. 72-hour heat packs are available for an additionalUSD 6.00 each.Wherever possible, plants will beshipped in plastic pots or baskets.
