Historical works, of which the most famous is the work on the sovereigns and dynasties of Europe starting from Charlemagne, which appeared in eight folio volumes between 1671 and 1679. In his works he took the Latin name Ioannes Palatius.

The Work of remarkable historical-archaeological-artistic value, impressed with magnificence and on thick paper, with stunning Engravings/Etchined illustrations. The author (Venice 1640 - ca. 1713) was a historian and professor of canon law, elected aulic councilor by Emperor Leopold.
Palazzi's series of illustrated histories of Europe's royal houses
Johannes Palatius (actually Giovanni Palazzi) was born in 1646. He was a Doctor iuris utriusque (doctor of both laws: secular and canonical law); in addition, D. Marci Canonias. He became professor of canonical law in Padua in 1684. He took over the rectorate of Santa Maria in Venice in 1688. He was appointed imperial advisor and historiographer. As such, he composed a great number historical works. Well known is his work on the European rulers and dynasties since Charles the Great, "Monarchia occidentalis a Carolo M. usque ad Leopoldas I, " which appeared in eight folio volumes. In his writings, he used the Latin version of his name, Ioannes Palatius. Johannes Palatius died in the year 1703.

Attributes: Scarce, Illustrated beautifully with Etched/Engraved Plates and in text illustrations, the plates themselves full folio sized are very dramatic and intricate. text double columned. No reserve.
Condition: Later Vellum (18th Century), Folio, extremities rubbed. marks to boards. binding remains firm, Lower spine chipped, wear to raised bands. the upper panel of the front boards hinge split. pages bound securely. purple stamp to front pastedown, title and occasionally to pages (heavy to second title) manuscript annotation to lower title page. occasional marks to pages. and staining. Lacking FFEP. Frontis rebacked to outer margin, lower margin repaired with crude tape. Closed tears to title and following page (lower margin) same pages also rebacked to outer margin.
