Click images to enlarge Description GAR National Encampment Staff badges are not as appreciated as they should be. Staff badges went to the few leaders of the encampment that helped to run it for the Commander. An encampment might have 1500 delegates with the same number of badges and just a couple of dozen or so Staff members with the same amount of badges for them. They are scarce.
This 1919 badge is in very good condition but I am confused as to the design. There is no pin and there does not seem that one was ever provided. The celluloid drop is a bit on the cheap side compared to other staff badges. The regular encampment badge was quite nice and in the same league as all of the others, but this badge had to have been a disappointment..
I continue to sell off my Civil War & G.A.R. collections. There are some wonderful items that need to be taken care of for future generations so drop by every once in a while.
