Antique Chinese Yellow Silk Embroidered Grinning Black Cat Medallion Badge Robe Trim
This antique Chinese yellow silk embroidered grinning black cat medallion badge robe trim dates from the late 19th century. It is made of a golden yellow silk fabric background, with colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work of large grinning black cat in the center and a smaller smiling brown cat sitting atop. This beautifully embroidered textile badge med...allion roundel remnant might have come off of an older Manchu robe, or ceremonial wall hanging banner and has been professionally matted onto a newer silk damask weave patterned fabric border trim matting, silk backing with a "Peking China" paper label and is suitable, ready for framing. The roundel medallion measures 14 inches across. It is in good as-is condition, with some loose missing black thread embroidery work on the black cat. This is truly a beautiful one of a kind piece of antique Chinese textile embroidery cat art!
