Antique Chinese Yellow Silk Forbidden Stitch Embroidered Art Deco Boho Dress Vtg
Item History & Price
This antique Chinese yellow silk forbidden stitch embroidered wedding skirt dress dates from the 1920s, but was created from a late 19th century Qing Dynasty skirt. It is made of a bright golden yellow imperial color silk fabric, with colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work and forbidden stitch Peking knot embroidery work done in a variety of vases, flowers... on the two matching apron panels used on the top both front and back. This gorgeous Han women's wedding skirt has been reworked into a 1920s style two piece boho artistic dress with a sleeveless slip underdress, colorful embroidered flowers, butterflies along the bottom pleated skirt, side snap closures, a fitted inner waistband and is unlined. The dress measures 47 inches long, with a 36 inch bust, 26 inch waist and 44 inch hips. There is a tabard style tunic top with yellow sheer silk chiffon bat wing flared sleeves trimmed in silk fringe, side silk damask panels underneath, pullover style and is unlined. The top measures 25 inches long, with a 36 inch bust, 38 inch waist and 33 inch long sleeves. It is in good condition, with only a few faint tiny age spot stains on the top, sleeves and faint underarm discoloration on the slip dress underneath. This is truly a rare and exceptional piece of custom made antique Chinese textile wearable art!
