Original Description:
GAR kepi; front has badge with "3" surrounded by wreath (for a GAR Post 3); shows wear and use consistent with age, but in good condition overall; one small hole in crown; deterioration to lining; tarnished GAR side-buttons.  "SHANNON MILLER & CRANE / 46 MAIDEN-LANE / NEW YORK"  stamped inside crown.  Shannon Miller & Crane were post-Civil War military outfitters, and operated at that address from 1867-1896.  This kepi likely dates ca. 1880-1890.  Overa...ll a nice example of an absolutely original late 19th Century GAR kepi.
