Rare Red Wing Pottery Potteries 1939 Wisconsin Badger. My understanding is this is the more rare badger sold at early Wisconsin vs. Minnesota football games located in Minnesota. The pottery was brought from Red Wing, MN to the stadium and were popular among Minnesotans. The 'visitor team' badger molds are less common than the gopher molds for obvious reasons and were even "bootlegged" later on. Inferior, unmarked badger molds exist -- but this is not one of them.
This authentic ite...m was purchased by my grandparents while visiting Minnesota to watch the Badgers play the Gophers.
Condition is mint, however there is a debatable 'flea bite' on the badger nose. I've only seen one other genuine badger online and the same thing was mentioned, which leads me to believe that this was more of a factory glaze issue rather than anything else. Upon examination, this piece has no damage whatsoever, and I would argue the same goes for the very tip of the nose.
There is glaze on the tip on the nose, but a slight discoloration no larger than a toothpick's point. Other than that, this piece is flawless.
