Original Description:
For your consideration is an extremely rare signed Wm R Burkhard duck decoy keel or belly weight. Cast in lead with two brass nails. Taken off an early Huron Lake wooden duck decoy. Probably used during the market gunning days. Those hunters wanted the perfect depth and motion to their decoys. Burkhard Sporting Goods was est in 1856 and touted themselves as the oldest gun and sporting goods house in the Northwest. Apparently St. Paul was considered the Northwest at the time. The letter... head with the ducks head logo is a "copy", but will be included with the vintage decoy weight. This really hard to find signed decoy weight was a center piece in my collection.
