This fantastic 4.75” ironstone pitcher was created in the early 19th century at Fenton Stone Works, a division of C.J. Mason Co. in Staffordshire, England. It has a wonderful hallmark on the bottom that includes a drawing of a building that one might assume was the factory. It reads C.J.M. & Co. This pitcher is an example of their pre-patented ironstone China. There is glaze... crazing inside and out, but the hand painting is in very good shape. The painted serpent handle attaches to the pitcher with the head at the top. There is a small original nail and a small hole for another nail at the top of the piece that held a pewter lid. There is a small chip at the bottom of the serpent’s head. There are chips/two spots of wear on the spout from the pewter lid.I have included these defects in the photos. Please feel free to message me with any questions! I have and strive to keep 100% happy buyers.
