Style: AubussonType: Needlepoint TapestryCountry: FranceAge: Mid 19th Century to 1900'sSize: 24" Wide by 37" LongNote: I believe this was taken from a huge throne type arm chair. The backing is the same material as would be found on the bottom of the chair and the needlepoint is the same as the back rest (plus size as well). Or the same maker simply made wall tapestries as well as needlepoint for chairs.Subject Matter: Famous Woman & Unicorn Design (Pre-16th Century Design repeated... throughout the Centuries in France). Condition: Very good. See pictures. The feel of the fabric is very dry much like my 19th Century coverlets and my 18th Century wool rugs. It is sturdy enough for a chair restore, but looks better as a wall hanger tapestry.
