First Aid to Animals Merit Badge, Original Full Square - Type AA (Issued in this type between 1911 - 1919). It was common in the teens, to cut down from the original full square format merit badges to a smaller 2" square or even a circular design. This badge is one of the few remaining original uncut full square versions measuring approx. 3 1/8" x 4" rectg., as produced by BSA and has a rare partial BSA logo watermark on the back of the cloth. This merit ba...dge began in 1911 with the bandaged injured white sitting dog on a golden cross design. Within the first decade of production several varieties exists (Type AA). This unique version has the long spindly un-bandaged front legs on a very thick wide gold cross. In 1969, the design changed to include a burnt-orange background. In 1972 this badge merged into the new Veterinary Science badge. Unused mint condition with minor edge fraying/wear that is usual for this Type. Shipping & Handling with Tracking is $4.00 within USA!
