This fantastic antique figural cast iron Satyr door knocker is pretty big, about 10 1/2" tall x 5 3/8" wide and it weighs 2 1/4 pounds altogether. The heavy 2-piece door knocker is quite sturdy and beautifully formed with fine detail and you can see the bearded Satyr has garlands of flowers draped on his shoulders and curved horns on his head. I can only imagine where this piece came from but he would be perfect for the door of a Victorian style brothel! It has been used and ther...e is some wear but over all the iron door knocker is in excellent original condition. I believe it is quite old but I don't know the exact era it was used. My best guess as to age is Ca. 1920s or earlier. Decorative and very unusual!
