A little bit of advice while you shop for new bases and parts for your vintage Eames seats:When you're new to collecting Eames it's hard to see all of the subtle differences between the knockoff pieces and the vintage pieces. Maybe you're dipping your toes into collecting Eames. Don't fight it, you'll eventually be obsessed. Over time you'll learn to see, and eventually fixate on, all of the details that make the vintage pieces so textural, precise, and beautiful. Modern Conscience is a restoration and preservation shop. We focus on conservation and all of those vintage details matter. They are part of our religion. Modern Conscience bases are made to precise specifications on vintage spec tooling and molds. Stare at the cheap Chinese bases and Modern Conscience bases for a while. You'll start to see the sloppy work on the others -rod sections that aren't straight, incorrect radii, thick sloppy welds, and cheap finishes trying to fake the real thing. Be a pretentious mid-century collector - buy parts that respect the original design.
