Vintage Marantz Professional Portable Cassette Recorder PMD221 3 Head mono recorder - TESTED. Condition is Used. I am the only owner of this recorder (I bought it new several decades ago). It has been in the attic for the past 18 years. I tested it and everything still works (like pitch/speed control, built-in mic, playback speaker, record and play volume controls, limiter, etc.) The one imperfection is the stop/eject button... you are supposed to press it part-way down to stop the tap...e playing, rewinding or forwarding, and if you press it all the way down it opens the hatch cover and ejects the tape. This stop button works for the cue and review buttons as intended, but when stopping play you need to press it all the way down, which both stops playing, but also ejects the tape. So if you don't want to eject the tape, you can instead use the pause button, which freezes the tape in place (the motor still on). This is a minor annoyance, but not a big problem. I am still looking for the plug adapter, and will include it it I find it, but it works with three D batteries. You can buy a replacement adapter plug for about $13 on Amazon. You just need one of those adjustable adapters that includes a 4.5 volt setting and can handle at least 700mA (a 800 mA, or 1 amp would be fine), with a negative center terminal.On Sep-09-20 at 06:29:44 PDT, seller added the following information:I took good care of this recorder, and even bought a head demagnetizer that I used periodically to keep the recording pristine. Like the plug adapter, I am looking for the demagnetizer in the attic also, and will include it if I can find it... but that isn't looking likely, unless my wife stashed it somewhere and can find it.
