Very rare and original, ca1900 Native American Apache Indian Bead Decorated Hide Bag / Drawstring Pouch. This outstanding, turn of the 20th century Beaded Bag measures approx. 9" long (including beaded drops) and 3" wide (at its widest point).
This wonderful Southern Plains / Apache Beaded Bag is made of a soft, smoke tanned hide and is sinew and thread sewn by hand with beaded crosses on both the front and back sides featuring translucent candy apple red, c...halk white and translucent amber colored beads. The Bag retains its original rawhide drawstrings at the top. The Bag features a delicate border of chalk white and translucent candy apple red seed beads. The Bag is made using six, “tadpole” shaped hide panels.

This very rare and very beautiful, ca1900 Apache Bead Decorated Bag is in very good condition. All of the hide elements are well preserved - sound and supple with some age appropriate surface wear and darkening. The beadwork is very attractive and exceptionally well preserved with no bead loss or damage to the decoration on the front and back panels but with a minimal amount of loss to the delicate, beaded drops. All elements of the Bag are original and there has been no repairs or restorations.
