Very rare and beautiful, 1890’s Pair of Native American Haudenosaunee / Iroquois Indian Bead Decorated Hide Moccasins. This outstanding Pair of late 19th century Iroquois Child’s Moccasins each measure approx. 5" long at their soft, smoke tanned hide soles and feature all hand, spot stitched bead decoration in a floral designs on the vamps.
These wonderful Bead decorated Moccasins are thread sewn by hand with a puckered toe and spot stitched beadwork usin...g chalk white, clear, red, green, and mustard colored seed beads. The cuffs are applied black velvet trimmed with red grosgrain ribbon trade cloth that extend to form the laces of the Moccasins. The vamps and contiguous tongues are trade cloth over hide.
This wonderful Pair of Iroquois Bead Decorated Hide Moccasins came to us from the Minnesota collection of Stanley L. Slocum.
The Moccasins offered here are unconditionally guaranteed original and of the period. They are NOT reproductions or modern recreations but original Eastern Woodlands Moccasins crafted in the late 19th century. This very rare and beautiful, Pair of 1890’s Haudenosaunee / Iroquois Indian Bead Decorated Child’s Moccasins are in very good condition. The hide and trade cloth elements are well preserved with small tears at the heel of each Moccasin and light wear from use at the soles of both Moccasins. The beadwork is exceptionally beautiful and very well preserved with no loss or damage of any kind. All elements of the Moccasins are original and there has been no repairs or restorations - they are 100% original and very beautiful.
