Herewe have a clean Vintage Patented STANLEY No. 48 or 49 Tongue & Groove (T&G) Plane, Type 1 (1876-1898). I couldn't make my mind up if this was a No. 48 or 49. The No. 48 had 5/16" irons and the No. 49 had 3/16" irons. The irons in this plane are approx. 1/4" ! ! SO.. I'm not sure. It's probably a No. 48 since the width of the channel in the sole is 5/16", which would be you tongue width. The length of the sole is 8-3/4". Both&nbs...p;Type 1 planes version was the only japanned version. All moving parts operate smoothly. Japanning is at 80-85%. The Rosewood Knob is in very good condition with no cracks or breaks. Just some minor nicks and scrapes to the metal parts of the plane. A couple of small 'pock' marks in the fence. The sole and mouth are in very good clean condition with a few nicks here and there. The body is marked 'PAT. JULY 6. 1875' on the left side. The swiveling fence and spring loaded lock pin work as they should. The 2 small ( approx. 1/4" wide) blades are sharp but should be touched up before use. There are no owners marks. No cracks, breaks or repairs to this plane. ** Please remember to leave Feedback. I will gladly reciprocate. :-) Reg. Box A
