Original Antique Oval Shaker Paint Decorated Pantry Box
Antique Oval Paint Decorated Pantry Box, in very good condition.
The box and the lid each have a single Finger overlap piece to construct the box. Old nail were used in construction - there are 7 old nails or pegs spaced on the bottom overlap finger and old nails holding the sides to the unfinished bottom.
The sides and top have a lovely original wood patina. The top has a great primitive pai...nt decorated design on the top with a center pointed oval shape in dark green with a with stylized black geometric cross. The design is repeated with half of the design on the two ends of the oval top.
The paint decoration is in very good condition as is the box. There are some scratches in the finish on the fingered side and there a couple of small spots were the bottom nails have slightly cracked the wood - still it displays beautfiully and is a great antique collectible.
The box measures 11" long and just over 8" wide, 3.5" tall.
