On September 19, 1854 he was issued Patent #11, 740(?), for apparatus for polishing daguerreotyp...e plates. He was listed as a daguerreian in Bath, Maine in 1855-1856. Another source listed him as a daguerreian in Chicago, Ill., dates unknown. Another source has also placed Upton as a daguerreian in St. Anthony, Minn., dates unknown.
