This is a very rare item from S F & Co Royal Devon Biscuit Barrel/Cookie jar A stunning example of Crown Devon pottery, in the "Festoon" Royal Devon design. The pattern is repeated all around, three times.Beautifully painted with bouquets of purple violets surrounded by green garlands and bows on an ivory body. Highlights of rustic cream adorn the highly embellished swags that become the three feet. There are also highlights of gold on the leaves and outlines of the violets.T...he base is clearly marked in green S.F & Co Stoke on Trent England with the green crown. The number 36 is incised on the base as well. Offered in good condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. The colours remain crisp and vibrant set on a blush ivory background. Some glaze crazing which is commensurate with age - c1902 A 'must' for any collector of such items.
Measures 17 cms to top of lid and 25 cms with the handle fully upright. The top opening is 11 cms.
