Fair condition and guaranteed original Indian Wars US ArmyModel 1872 cavalry saber that is maker marked “D. ABBATE & F. DE CARO NEWYORK” on the left ricasso. 32” blade has original bright finish with some grayand brown patina. Brass hilt retains much original nickel finish. Features theAmerican eagle on the back of the guard and the Federal shield on the pommel.Grip has re-wrapped leather and shows some scuffing. Also has replaced wire.Fitted in correct original steel scabbar...d that has original bright platedfinish showing some wear and flaking, no dents. A scarce US Model 1872 cavalrysaber in any condition.
