Here is an excellent example of the US Model 1850 Foot officers sword. The hilt is brass mounted with a reddish tinge . The grip is black rayskin now faded from age with all the twisted wires intact and very solid . The slightly curved single-edged blade is in fine antique condition with some age staining. It is profusely etched with scrolls and the US Eagle with " E PLURIBUS UNUM " in a ribbon. The obverse ricasso is marked " W. H. / Horstmann / & sons / Philadelphia ". The revers...e ricasso has the Kings Head stamp for the blade maker Weyersberg of Solingen . The back has " IRON PROOF " Horstmann imported many of his blades from Germany. NO scabbard being of leather it is long gone. The overall length is 36 1/2 " with a30 1/2" blade. A fine piece of Civil War history at No Reserve. I I offer a 100% guarantee.
