Original Description:
This is a good example of an U.S. Staff and Field Officer's Sword, Model 1850. It is mounted with a blade that measures 32 inches in length which remains in good condition with just some minor staining and with all of the beautiful etching still present. The very nice brass guard is designed with intricately detailed pierced work that includes an "US" as well as floral motifs and remains nice and tight with a beautiful aged patina now developed. It wears a fishskin covered hilt that re...mains healthy as well and with its original twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. Overall measuring 38 1/8 inches in length. The scabbard has been lost along the way.
