Lovely Rare Vintage Sampson Mordan & Co Rose Gold & Silver Telescopic Propelling Pencil - Working
For auction is this lovely early vintage novelty telescopic propelling pencil. The pencil is made from sterling silver and rose gold which I believe is 9ct and although it is unmarked, it has the Sampson Mordan Arrow after the name which indicates that it is indeed solid gold. The pencil marked S Mordan & Co on the extending mechanism.
I think this is quite ...a rare pencil and is in full working order. The alternating silver and rose gold with spiral patterning is rather striking! I've not actually seen a rose gold Mordan pencil before.
The mechanism to open and shut the pencil works with a smooth action. The propelling mechanism however just spins but the pin does not move up and down so not sure if this is an easy fix or not.
The condition in my opinion is good but there are some marks and scratches from usage. I haven't attempted to clean the pencil in anyway so could probably do with a good clean which might improve things.
