I have here for sale a huge map entitled A CHART OF PART OF THE COAST OF COCHIN CHINA INCLUDING TURON HARBOUR AND THE ISLAND CALLAO, from an actual survey in June 1793. Engraved for the printer George Nicol, by J Baker. The plate is dated April 12th 1796. This map is of Vietnam and covers DA NANG down to CHAM CALLAO.This plate was included in the famous book entitled STAUNTON's An AUTHENTIC ACCOUNT OF AN EMBASSY from the KING OF GREAT BRITAIN to the EMPEROR OF CHINA, published in 1796 ...and 1797. The book was published as two quarto text volumes, and a massive Atlas volume - which is remarkably rare and valuable. The plates come from the Atlas.Measures 57 cm x 43 cm.
