You are bidding on a SUPERB set of German Luftwaffe Pilot Pst4004 Flight Boots! This RARE version, featuring vertical zipps on both inner and outer calf sections were utilized by both pilots and crew members of various fighter, bombers, and destroyers! Development of protective flight uniforms, equipment and footwear began with the advent of military aircraft in WWI and continued into WW2. Flight boots were considered an integral part of the flight suit,... and the first flight boots developed after WW1 were the fur lined Model PST 3, which were introduced on November 6, 1935. On September 22, 1937 an improved version of the Pst 3 flight boots were introduced and designated as model Pst 4004. Both the Pst 3 and the Pst 4004 boots were utilized through-out the war. The Pst 4004 flight boots were produced in two, slightly different versions with one having vertical zippers to both the inner and outer leg/calf sections while the other version only had the vertical zipper to the inner leg/calf section. Additional flight boots were introduced during the war including the electrically heated, fur lined, flight boots as introduced on February 16, 1940 and all followed the same basic design. Made of brushed suede, leather, and rubber, this is an EXCELLENT pair of 100% MATCHING WWII German flight boots! They appear to be a size 45 (Size 11 US), are are in VERY NICE used condition. All the leather is still very supple, with some slight wear and staining, due to the age. Rather than having the standard single zip, these have DUAL zips (inner and outer). AS these were combat worn there are scuffs, marks, wear, and various period repairs. These are a matching set, with an overall height of approx 16". Both zippers feature the manufacture stamps "Wico", and the snaps are "PRYM"The interior of the boots are fully lined in natural, white, lamb’s fleece, and the outside features adjustable leather straps at the top, as well as a fit diagonal adjustment on the side. The soles have been replaced, as you can see in the photos, but they show very little wear, and the heals are still strong. Would make a PERFECT addition to any collection, display, or re-enactor!
