RARE MARGAINE PETITE SONNERIE CARRIAGE CLOCK quarter chime on 2 gongs CASE & KEY
RARE MARGAINE PETITE SONNERIE CARRIAGE CLOCK quarter chime on 2 gongs CASE & KEY ... Click images to enlarge Description A rare, late 19thC carriage clock made by Margaine and with petite sonnerie quarter chiming mechanism. Fully overhauled in 2018 (receipt included) the clock also comes with its original key AND travel case.
As you can see in the pictures the clock is well presented with the porcelain dial perfect and likewise ALL the glasses. The travel case is quite worn in places and lacks the original handle.
I have found the clock runs strongly but tends to stop before fully wound down after a week. The half hour is only struck once instead of twice though when the repeat button is depressed it is struck twice. The clock fitted with its original platform escapement.
This hugely collectable clock is presented for sale BY AUCTION and with NO RESERVE - do not miss it!!!!
Weighs 2.28kg before wrapping. The clock stands 7" (18cm) high and the base is 3.75" (9.5cm) wide and 3.25" (8.25cm) deep.
