Up for bid is an original French model 1866 Chassepot bayonet in very good condition. Its unsharpened 22 and 7/16 inch blade is marked M and star G in ovals on one side, St. Etienne Juillet 1871 on its spine. Blade has dark patina spots and has some scratches. Cross guard is marked M 4620, starred T in an oval, B in an oval and starred G in an oval. Cross guard and handle spring have oxidation spots and dark patina spots. Brass handle is affixed with two pins, has no cracks, and has da...rk patina spots. Pommel press-stud functions well. No scabbard. A very good original French Chassepot bayonet! Shipping is USPS Insured Priority Mail calculated based upon your address. Due to customs restrictions, buyers in China, Japan, Russia and Italy will need to make arrangements to ship to one of your contacts in another country that accepts edged weapons.
