1993 Fender Stratocaster ' 62 Vintage Reissue Custom Edition ST62G - 65 Trans Green
Item History & Price
Tonally, the ash body, thick slab rosewood fretboard, and maple neck combine to deliver a classic Strat tonal platform, and the trio of original alnico magnet single coils do an excellent job of electrifying the instrument's natural acoustic properties with a complex midrange character, clear percussive snap, and smooth warmth. The bridge position has a sparkly, authoritative zing, the middle position single coil is a great choice for strumming, and the neck position is throaty and rich while still having a crystalline snap in the treble. The five-way switch also offers easy access to the signature Strat quack in the 2 and 4 positions, and this is simply a very fun to play and visually distinctive Strat, featherweight at 7lbs. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings and low action, we've dialed in this Strat to play its best.
The maple neck has a medium C shaped profile with well-rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .855" deep at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. The fretboard is a particularly thick slab and a very dark, tight-grained cut of rosewood too. The original slender frets are intact and flawless, with perfectly rounded crowns on the 7 1/4" radius fretboard. The scale length measures 25 1/2", and the nut measures 1 5/8" in width. On the headstock, the original vintage-spec Fender logo is intact, along with a set of practically perfect original Kluson-style gold tuners. Visible in the neck pocket, the original The ST62G-65 model stamp is also present.
The electronics are stock and untouched, with a trio of single coils with staggered, unbeveled alnico magnets wired to the original harness, with pots that date to March of '93. The gold hardware retains the majority of its plating with light patina particularly on the bridge saddles and vibrato arm, and the original plastic parts are intact with a three-ply white pickguard and faintly aged pickup covers and knobs. The transparent green finish highlights the broad and dynamic grain of the two-piece ash body, and cosmetic wear is limited to light finish checking at the edge of the neck pocket and only a few minor marks on the body as a whole save for one finish chip and a few corresponding nicks on the back treble side lower bout edge. The ambered gloss neck profile finish is flawless.
A gigbag is included.
