Offering for sale, an uncommonopportunity to own a piece of audio history - a pair of Acoustic Research AR3 Speakers. Acoustic Research was started by EdgarVillchur in 1952. Featuring his acousticsuspension design, the AR1 was the company’s first speaker and was a hit. The AR3 was the well received successor. The simple look of the AR3 cabinet belied itscomplex audio offering…the gem, tucked away behind the knit cloth grille wasthe world’s first production... dome tweeter, dome mid-range speakers and a 12-inchcone woofer. Simple in design yet solidly built, the stout cabinets measure 25 “ x 11.5" x 14". This is a pair of unrestored, classic speakers with serial numbers C46759 and C46783. They have been tested and have beenfound to be in working order overall. Itwas thought that they could be better suited, possibly with better performanceresults, if paired with a quality of stereo more aligned to their capabilitythan what was and is available here for testing. Pleasenote they have not been tested for specific quality or levels of output such aswhat a true audiophile would be capable of exacting.As these speakers were no doubt previously enjoyed, there is some cosmetic wear such as can be seen on the cabinets and cloth grilles. Original badges are affixed also with cosmetic wear.Adding to the appeal of this offering, are the originalboxes.
