Vintage H. H. Scott Stereo Integrated Tube Amplifier, Model 299.
Item History & Price
Featured in this auction, is a circa 1959 H.H. Scott stereo integrated amplifier. This was Scotts first stereo integrated amplifier, and you can see in one of the photos it has a very low serial number of 4555. The front panel is in very good shape with all the graphics intact. I have not attempted to clean... the front panel, since using the wrong cleanser can wipe off the lettering very easily. I did try to clean up the chassis, but it will probably benefit from some more cleaning. The phono pickup selector switch all the way to the left has a broken off lever, as shown in the photos. I have the plastic lever and it will be included. It may be possible to epoxy it back into place. The tube shields are missing from the 12AX7 tubes. Three of the EL84/6BQ5 output tubes are missing. I borrowed a set of outputs tubes from another amplifier, and powered this amp up slowly with a Variac. It passes balanced signal on both channels, with no hum or hiss. This does not by any means make it a plug-n-play unit! It is 60 years old, and most likely has not had regular use in decades. It should be thoroughly checked out by a certified technician, to make sure it is safe to operate for extended periods of time, and to bring it back as close as possible to factory specifications. I may have some shields for the tubes; and if I can find them by the end of the auction, will be happy to include them. 6BQ5 tubes are available here on eBay, and elsewhere on line. Please see the photos, and feel free to email with questions regarding this item.
