Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:262774 | Brand: Hamilton |
Number of Jewels: 21 Jewels |
This is a nice watch to carry if you like old pocket watches. This is Hamilton 18 size pocket watch, 940 model, 21 Jewels, ADJUSTED 5 POSITIONS. Condition is Pre-owned.
I don't know the case material, but this case was manufactured as a display case. Both bezels are snap ons and both of them snap on tightly and stay shut. There are no excess spaces between the bezels and the middle case when the bezels are snapped on. The front bezel has "Hamilton" mar...king. There is a small scratch mark near the opening lip on the front bezel and its length is about 3 mm. Other than this, there is no noticeable deep scratches or dents on this case. Both crystals are glass and they are very clear and I don't see any noticeable surface scratches or edge chips on them. You will be satisfied with these glass crystals. The bow is firm.
The hands are all beautiful blue color and the minute hand has a rust spot on its tear-drop shaped area, but I don't think it is very noticeable. I don't see any hairlines or chips on the dial.
The movement is marked "Hamilton Watch Co. Lancaster, Pa. 21 JEWELS 940 SAFETY PINION ADJUSTED 5 POSITIONS 529408" According to this serial number, this watch is from around year 1907. There is no noticeable surface scratches which will catch your eyes instantly on this movement. This movement was serviced by a professional watchmaker 7 years ago and it has been sitting in my safe since then. I can set time, wind smoothly and it continues to run with strong & true balance motion. The sound of ticking is very strong. Unfortunately I will not be able to offer you any future warranties on this watch as this is over 110 years old antique and any small fine mechanical pieces like this one always have some possibilities to have issues anytime in the future even with your proper care. There is no way to prevent any problems which will require repairs from happening in the future unfortunately. It is amazing this over 110 years old antique still works nicely.
I will ship this watch by USPS Priority Mail with signature confirmation and the shipping is additional $11. I know this shipping cost is extra a few dollars, but I don't want this watch sitting on your front door step until you come home. I use a square box smaller than a Priority Mail flat rate medium box and I will pack well. IF YOUR ADDRESS IS IN OVERSEAS, PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE YOU PLACE YOUR BID. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING IS MUCH MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN DOMESTIC SHIPPING. I will contact you with your shipping options and prices. Please feel free to ask any questions. Thank you for your interest and have a wonderful day!
