1862 National Watch co H Z Culver 18 size ~ key wind from the rear / key set from the front (no key provided {sorry}) & though i do not guarantee timekeeping the watch was recently serviced & working quite well over a 24 hour period for me ~ housed in a coin silver hunting case that maintains a soft patina ~ coin edged case body with engine turning on the rear & front along with an empty cartouche ~ front... cover springs open to a crisp 90 degrees when the pusher under the bow is pressed ~ clear glass glass crystal in a hinged bezel ~ deep blued steel elgin hands ~ the dial is the only example of a national watch co dial that i recall being double sunk ~ many of the early national dials i have seen have suffered ~ this dial is not perfect but overall very nice ~ not long after this watch was made the company re organized into the elgin national watch company ~ the 15 jewel gilded movement is clean & bright ~ gold timing screws on the split metallic balance wheel ~ signed H Z Culver ~ Elgin, Ill ~ serial number 173080 - made in 1862 ~ has a safety pinion & marked adjusted ~ an overall excellent example of antique american mechanical art from a company that would go on to dominate the american made watch market with a special dial for the enthusiast to enjoy! please ask questions and resolve issuesbefore you placeyour bid reserve?no reserve here! so if you like it you better place yourbid now before it gets away! thanks for checking out my listingand if you are into watches please check out my other offerings & you might want to keep a half-an-eye on myupcoming listings as i am liquidating a long time watchmaker'sestate-whilst i continue to span the globe for unique and exoticitems to bring to your door!you are the reason ebay is a success!Good Luck!tempus fugit ~ carpe diem the release of atomic power has changed everything except our way ofthinking... the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind.
