Up for auction is a tin friction 1950's open wheel J.T.Y. racer made by Hadson/Yonezawa of Japan. The race car measures 12 inches or 30 centimeters long and it is in very good, complete, original condition. This is a large, early 50's racer with great graphics and dynamic lines. The surface of the tin has a nice gloss and the paint is in very good condition. There are the usual scratches and chips in the paint as well as some small abrasions and edge wear. There are some small paint to...uch ups, the helmet appears to have been pretty much repainted but the other touch ups are small and few. The base, hubcaps and tires are in excellent condition and the friction motor works well, although the flint no longer works.. This example does have some mild playwear but it has avoided the major crashes many of these larger racers have gone through. The J.T.Y. racers were made with several different numbers, 53, 54, and 55 and several different hood ornaments. There is also a J.T.T. which does not have any of the little celluloid windows in the back of the car. The racers are pictured on page 205 and 213 and another version is listed but not pictured on page 214 of the great Big Book of Tin Toy Cars Commercial and Racing Vehicles. Thanks for looking!!!!
