This Rosewood knob is in Good Minus condition due to a small chip (sliver) at the base and a couple of very tight hairlines. There are also some minor scratches and dings.. It is the earlier style used in type 12 and 13 planes which were produced from 1919 to 1928 - after Stanley enlarged the knob, but before adding the cast knob receiver ring to the bed of the plane. It comes with ...the original mounting hardware to ensure a proper fit onto your plane. The hardware is also period correct. It was donated from a type 12 number 6. As a user, it will also fit earlier planes, However, it will not fit later planes which have the knob ring cast into the bed of the plane. It will also it other sizes, as a user, such as a No. 5, 6, 7, 8 but will be slightly under or over sized. It is only an authentic original replacement for a type 12 and 13 number 6. Ready for use!

ALL inventory is stored in an environment where climate and humidity are controlled to ensure each item is received in the same condition in which it is presented in the listing. When applicable, I try to grade the condition of every tool and part objectively using John Walter's grading system from his "Antique & Collectible Stanley Tools" price guide as described below. This is not necessarily an industry standard for grading, and grading vocabulary will vary from collector to collector since there is some subjectivity involved (i.e. "mint" vs. "near mint"). For these reasons, I will also try to list a description of these grades in each listing in order to clarify the grade given to each item. Please refer to the details below and read the "condition" portion of this listing for the condition grading assigned to this item.
MINT: 100% of original finish remaining. No signs of wear or rust - probably never used. No problems or issues.
EXCELLENT: 95-99% of original finish remaining. Very slight wear with no rust. No problems or issues.
GOOD PLUS: 85-95% of original finish remaining. Used but well maintained. Scuffs, light wear, very little rust.
GOOD: 65-85% of original finish remaining. Moderate wear and/or rust. Minor deficiencies - owner's initials, nicks, etc.
GOOD MINUS: 50-65% of original finish remaining. Has seen hard use, but remains serviceable. Scratches, nicks, dents, cracks, chips, improper replacement parts.
FAIR: 25-50% of original finish remaining. Heavy wear and rust. Some parts are broken, missing, or improper - serious flaws.
POOR: 0-25% of original finish remaining. Pitted, abused, heavily worn. Serious damage and missing major parts.
