My... history with The Amazing Spider-Man comics:This copy comes from my family’s comic book collection. My brothers and I shared the duties with collecting The Amazing Spider-man issues. Basically they started collecting them, but eventually as I grew up, it became my job to continue buying them. Eventually we agreed to stop collecting the series once it reached #300.
As for this comic: One of my brothers picked this comic up at a used book shop/comic book shop we used to go to in Brooklyn in the 1960’s. That written, once home we all got a chance to look at it, and once done, it was put into its bag with the other comics in the collection, where its been sitting ever since, that’s approximately 50 years in a plastic bag.
As for the comic’s condition: Today was the first time anyone has taken this comic book out of its comic bag since that day, and it was only removed so I could inspect it and scan it for this auction. And of course, relive my childhood… at least for a few brief minutes. Looking at it today, this comic is in nice shape considering its 52 years old. While its not in perfect condition, I’d still say it’s a pretty nice copy. There is obvious wear to it, but there are no missing pieces or pages or missing or loose. Please check out the scans, photo’s, associated with this auction which will hopefully answer any questions, that my description doesn’t describe. One last note, when looking at the scans, you might notice I had to photograph some of them with my iPhone, because I couldn’t use the scanner on the opened book. If I had, I might have damaged the comic book by flattening it (the heavy top of the scanner would weigh down on the comic, which could leave a bend or crease in it). If my explanation doesn’t make sense, if you have a scanner, try scanning a new comic book that still hasn’t flattened out or has a perfect binding spine (flat), you can’t scan it without creasing, or folding, or bending the cover or interior pages inside… try it… believe me I learned that hard lesson a long time ago…) One has to be very careful when inspecting comic books as not to devalue them accidentally.
My comic books up for auction aren’t professionally graded, but I’d classify it, as Very Good to Fine, so all I can do is suggest comparing my comic books, to the others also up for auction. Also check out my feedback and my other auctions to compare my grading of the comic books in comparison to how they look in the pictures. If you still have questions, ask away. Of note, We are selling off our families’ The Amazing Spider-Man collection, currently we have over 30 other issues up for auction. Please them out, or if there are any specific issues you are looking for, or ask away.
Thanks for checking our item, good luck with your search.
