Original Description:
Sterling silver 17th Century seal top spoon of probable English provincial origin. Beautiful seal type finial. Examination of stem shows that the seal was attched by way of a lap joint rather than a V joint which is characteristic of provincial spoons of this time. The top of the seal has chacteristically engraved dot prick initials of owners KS over GW. Below this is a date 1642 although the last numeral is hard to read. There is a town mark in the bowl which is unidentifiable wh...ich again is common in provincial spoons of the period. One guess might be Barnstaple in Devon - see photo from Jacksons.

In overall good condition with nornal wear consistent with age and use.
Measures 17.5 cm or 7 inches long.
Weight - 40 grams.
