Antique Majolica Tobacco Jar or Trinket Box with Black Boy riding a Turtle it is Rare and an early piece, would say late 1890's to 1910 . Condition is Used but excellent no chips or cracks. I tried to clean most of the dust out of the crevices but didn't get too detailed. I didn't want to drop it. Probably a q-tip to get under the arms and the bat, etc. I picked this piece up at an Estate Sale and have never seen this particular piece before, I have been in the b...usiness of Antiques since the late 80's and have dealt with a lot of pottery, I searched for it on line as well through tons of sites to no avail. Not one you will find. Looks to be continental possibly English or French but not finding any specific makers marks. It is a well done piece and has a good size. Measures 10" Long from turtles nose to back of his rear foot, it is 7" wide across the widest section of his legs and stands just at 9" tall. There are no chips that I can find or cracks. It's a great looking piece. Will be Shipped via USPS Priority Mail.
