Hamilton brass gimbal-mounted chronometer watch,
35 size, in a triple tiered mahogany carrying case.
Model 22. Made by the Hamilton Watch Company, Lancaster, PA.
Three tiered, 6 x 6 x 6 inch mahogany case that has three lids, metal slides, latches and two "knuckle" hinges is marked on the outside plaque, "Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster, Pa., USA". The upper lid opens to allow reading the watch thr...ough a glass cover. The second lid is opened for winding and setting procedures. The case interior contains a plaque with a safety reminder about the 'safety setting device'. Inside the case, there is an open face, 35 size watch mounted in a chronometer type gimbals.
The brass gimbal ring is pivoted from the sides of the box at two points 180 degrees apart. In addition, the brass case of the movement is pivoted at two points180 degrees apart and 90 degrees away from the gimbal ring mounting. This allows box to be tilted in any direction with the watch remaining level. The gimbal mount has a safety lock used to lock the watch into a position for transport. The barrel of the brass cased watch is marked Hamilton 1887.
The dial is silvered with black Arabic hours, closed minute ring to the outside, subsidiary continuous seconds dial @6 and power reserve marked, 'up/down'. The dial is marked 'Hamilton, Lancaster, Pa. USA', there are steel Continental-style 'Spade' hands.The condition is excellent, complete and original throughout. The case has some nicks and scratches. The crystal is original and has a couple of scratches.

The watch keeps good time. A true treasure that's approximately 78 years old.
The watch operates about 55-58 hours fully wound to stop. The power reserve dial allows you to view how much tension there is on the mainspring of the watch. To run continually you would wind the watch every two - three days.
Because of all of the elements of this beautiful piece I only ship USPS Priority Mail, privately insured for the full value. The fewer days it spends in any carriers hands the better chance it has of arriving safely to you. The reason the shipping is high is it requires full insurance, special packing & USPS Special Handling stickers ($20.00) extra and an adult signature required. This package will not travel like normal priority mail. It is hand carried to a special shipping container to it's final destination. It's the most secure way of shipping, much safer than UPS & FedEx.
