A vintage Fender Mustang from 1966. It's got original parts, but not all the parts are original to this exact guitar. It's got a maroon refinish that looks like a pro job, but the finish has become blotchy and dull in a number of places. The finish on the neck is original, but the decal is a reproduction.
This guitar plays and sounds great. The neck is straight, the frets are in good shape, and the electronics sound good. The serial number i...s 149929 (maybe you like nines). The neck date is 16 MAR 66B.
Body: refnished maroon, but the finish is blotchy. It can easily be refinished to the color of your own choice! No routes.
Pickups: Neck has an illegible date and was wound by CA. north polarity magnets, 6.16 K Ohms. Bridge pickup is dated 3/20/?? (I assume 66). Wound on winder 8, 6.13 K Ohms, south polarity magnets. One pickup cover has the ends cut off of it. Not sure why.
control plate: pots are dated 137 6615 and are 250 K pots. Not sure if these are original to the guitar or not, but they look the part. switches are old, original switches and work in all positions.
Pickguard, bridge, trem are original. The pickguard is shrunken a little bit, but it still fits on the guitar.
Neck is dated 16 MAR 66B. 22 frets. Original "F" tuners. The neck was drilled for the older Kluson strip tuners as well as the newer F tuners during this transition period. The tuning pegs are a nice original set, but may not be original to this exact guitar. The bottom of the neck has some extra stamp "0550" on it and also is stamped in ink "208". I'm not sure what these mean. It could have been shipped back to the factory at some point for the refinish.
The case is in great shape except for the middle latch which is missing. The outer latches both work great, so there's no real need for the middle one. The case is clean, sturdy, and odor-free.
This is a nice guitar that can be enjoyed the way it is, or refinished to the color of your choice. An affordable vintage Fender. The weight is 7 pounds, 6 ounces. Buyer pays $70 shipping. International shipping will be $110-140. -Fred.
